We’re proud of Camden and his firend Nathan for earning the Eagle Scout rank. This was a lot of work for Camden. At barely 13 and a half, this is about as young as possible a scout can do this, and he has almost twice as many merit badges as required.

Camden and I had a blast at Camp Durant last week with Troop 831. Two of our scouts suggested this may have been the best week of their lives. I was happy to participate. Staff told us this was the best week for weather they could remember there. More photos and video here.

Camden did his eagle project today. He’s been planning this for a long time and it was quite an accomplishment. We built stairs and water diversion bars at Jordan Lake for the Audubon Society’s eagle observation deck. We were told this is the best place for seeing eagles in the east. This was my first project as scoutmaster and I learned today from more experienced scouters that our scope was about double the typical project. Good to know for next time. We had a blast and were grateful for all the help we received. Camden did a great job. He’s on track to earn his eagle in a few weeks. Camden volunteered a couple times last week at Miracle League as part of his ‘Citizenship in the Community’ merit badge. Such a great organization. They provide a super fun experience for physically and/or mentally handicapped people. Camden ran the scoreboard for a few games (ensuring it was tied at the end of each inning), and was the DJ for a few games (each player picked out their theme song).

We had a special day yesterday celebrating Eden’s baptism. All four grandparents are in town for the occasion. Sierra even gave a talk! Hard to believe this is our last child to baptize. They grow so fast.
